She is part of the band Off The Hook (Tentacles in the Japanese version) with Pearl, which has its own television show. Her main weapon class are Brellas, specifically the Splat Brella as seen with Splatoon 3: Side Order.
Her Japanese name comes from the word for the webfoot octopus (イイダコ Iidako). As revealed in Octo Expansion, her full name is Marina Ida in English; Marine Iida (Iida-Marine, イイダ=マリネ) in Japanese.
