Originally titled 魔王「この我のものとなれ、勇者よ」勇者「断る！」(Demon Lord: "Hero, Become Mine!" Hero: "I Shall Not!") and referred to as まおゆう (Maoyuu) or 魔王勇者 (Maou yuusha or Demon Lord/Hero). The novel series is titled まおゆう魔王勇者.
Five simultaneous manga adaptations currently exist, and an anime adaptation aired in Japan in January-March of 2013. The manga adaptation, Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - "Kono Watashi no Mono to Nare, Yuusha yo" "Kotowaru!" (まおゆう魔王勇者「この我のものとなれ、勇者よ」「断る!」), by the artist Ishida Akira, was selected to be the "official" manga adaptation of the light novels.
