Shinobu is the youngest resident of the Hinata Lodge at the beginning of Love Hina, being only 12 years old at the start of the manga and 13 in the anime. She has a quiet and shy personality, and is prone to self doubting herself. Shinobu is quite skilled at cooking and is typically the one preparing the meals at the Hinata Lodge. She also does most of the chores around Hinata Lodge, and is frequently shown taking care of the residents' laundry. Unlike the rest of the residents at Hinata Lodge, Shinobu is not prone to hitting Keitaro, but is instead prone to getting emotional and crying in response to Keitaro's actions and mishaps.
