The LVT(A)(1) is an American amphibious assault vehicle developed by FMC in the early 1940s. It was a modernized version of the LVT-2 with a slightly modified turret from the M3 Stuart light tank being the main difference. The LVT(A)(1) entered service in late 1943 and was produced from December 1943 until late 1944, with a total of 510 vehicles built. The U.S. Army and Marine Corps actively used this amphibious tank during World War II for amphibious assaults on Japanese-occupied islands.
