Her appearance in the manga is very rough, gritty, somewhat muscular. This was changed in the anime making her short, petite and rather stereotypically "cute." In both though she is somewhat short with relatively large breasts. She also has a martial arts emblem.
In the manga, Shino is hot-headed, violent, prone to outbursts, destructive, impulsive and dull, if not just stupid. She ignores orders, berates those around her, acts on emotions, and also physically attacks those she doesn't like, creating multiple situations that should result in her court martial and possible execution, but she always escapes repercussions.
