The Mitsubishi Ki-46 was a Japanese reconnaissance aircraft aircraft during the Second World War. The Japanese Army designation was "Type 100 Command Reconnaissance Aircraft" (一〇〇式司令部偵察機). Its Allied reporting name was Dinah.
It had a crew of two (a pilot and an observer), powered by two engines, had long range and was faster than most fighter planes of its era. Like most Japanese military planes such as the A6M Zero and Ki-43 Hayabusa, it achieved that performance at the expense of armor and self-sealing fuel tanks.
It was designed by Kubo Tomio [久保 富夫] and entered combat for first time in July 1941. Later in the war, it was modified as a high-altitude interceptor.
