Honeycomb toffee; a sugary toffee made from baking soda, brown sugar, and corn syrup (or either molasses or golden syrup). It has a light, rigid, sponge-like texture. The Japanese name karumeyaki is a portmanteau of the Portuguese word caramelo (caramel) and the Japanese word yaki (to bake).
