Jinshi is the male lead of the series Kusuriya no Hitorigoto. Known as the beautiful eunuch of the rear palace, in-universe he is officially stated to be 23 at the start of the series. Jinshi is described as possessing the beauty of a nymph that transcends gender and is usually depicted with longblack to purple hair, commonly worn with a coveredhair bun in the back. After the events of volume 4, his face was marred with a scar running down the side of his cheek.
Jinshi officially is a eunuch who manages the Imperial harem in the rear palace. Tasked with taking care of, monitoring, and evaluating the consorts who live within the rear palace's walls. He is frequently accompanied by his attendant Gaoshun. He first formally meets Maomao when he took up the task of finding out the identity of the unknown benefactor who had left a note at high consort Gyokuyou's palace that saved the life of her daughter. He ends up developing an interest in her due to a mix of her intelligence, knowledge, and how she frequently is more likely to show him contempt instead of swooning over him like most people.
