The first of the three Abrahamic religions and the first world religion to focus on only worshipping a single God. Originally centered around the Middle East, ancient Jews were expelled from their homeland by the Roman Empire and scattered across Europe, Asia, and Africa. As a result, Judaism in general is extremely decentralized in comparison to other religions. Its branches have historically referred to the geographic origin of said branch (Ashkenazi, Sephardic, etc.), though in the 20th Century it has started to take on branches of how closely they interpret ancient scripture (Orthodox, Reform, etc.).
Elements of Jewish mysticism are frequently used in Japanese media for symbolic effect, such as in Neon Genesis Evangelion or Final Fantasy VII.
