Despite common belief, Jessica has next to nothing to do with the original Spider-Man. She was a standalone character, existing solely for Marvel to protect the name "Spider-Woman" from competition like DC Comics.
In The Ultimate universe, she is a female clone of Peter Parker who retains Peter's abilities, memories, and feelings towards other characters. Modern depictions, such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, associate her with the Spider-Man mythos.
