The Jagdpanzer IV was made to replace the StuG III as the war progressed. But there were arguments they there was a waste of Panzer IV chassis since StuG IIIs could preform their task more than adequately. Either way the Jagdpanzer IV was still produced, a total of around 2,000 of them were manufactured in total.
