A form of noodles sold in a dry, precooked block, the most common noodles to be presented such being ramen. Invented in Japan in 1958 by Nissin, it has since spread to other countries, examples include America's "Top Ramen" and Britain's "Super Noodles".
The instant noodle block is generally sold in two sorts of packaging, instant pack noodles (generally in square packs, sometimes sold in bulk) or instant cup noodles (generally sold in a cup- or bowl-shaped container).
