Sakai Yuuji's best friend. A glasses-wearing, normal guy whose dry wit helps make up for his general dullness. He's in love with Yoshida Kazumi, but she only has eyes for Yuuji. He and Ogata Matake are the only important high-school characters who don't know about the Flame Haze world.
