The High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), commonly known as the Humvee, is a four-wheel-drive military automobile produced by the American company AM General since 1984.

It was the U.S. armed forces replacement for the military jeep, and is in turn being partly replaced by the Oshkosh L-ATV.

Note that Hummer is the civilian version of the Humvee and has progressively become less and less similar to the military variant.
