Houseki no Kuni (Lit. "Country of Jewels", English: "Land of the Lustrous") is an ongoing action/fantasy manga series. The series is written and illustrated by Ichikawa Haruko and has been published in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine since December 2012. The manga was on hiatus from December 2020 until June 2022.
Set in a world inhabited by "jewel people," it chronicles their efforts to find the place where they belong and defend their way of life.
An anime promotional video was released on July 2013. A 12 episode anime adaptation aired between October and December 2017.

Gems (Houseki)
A humanoid species made of gems that inhabit the land of the planet. There are 28 gems at the start of the story. They appear to be genderless.
