"history of japan" is a viral video, originally uploaded to YouTube in February 2016 by American artist Bill Wurtz. The video is a bizarre 9-minute-long documentary in which a (mostly) deadpan Wurtz gives a fast-paced satirical retelling of Japanese history from the ancient era all the way up to the 20th century, frequently intercut with very short melodies. In May 2017, Wurtz uploaded a similarly-formatted video with a much broader scope, called "history of the entire world, i guess".
