An 1818 novel written by Mary Shelley. It tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a mad scientist who wanted to create new life from the bodies of the dead, resulting in the creation of Frankenstein's Monster.
The novel has been adapted to film multiple times, most notably in 1931 by Universal Pictures. Boris Karloff's portrayal of Frankenstein's Monster inspired most subsequent portrayals of the character.
