It was first announced in 2019, however the initial design was met with controversy after the company posted prototype images to Twitter, and was met with a surge of comments claiming the figure design was oversexualized. The prototype images were soon removed from the company's social media pages, and in 2020 they posted concept art for a revised design more similar to Windblade's other appearances. Ban is still the designer for the new design.
