Elite Dangerous is a game developed by Frontier Developments plc, headed by David Braben, the creator of the original Elite created in 1984. Successfully crowdfunded in 2012 on Kickstarter, Elite Dangerous has seen success as one of the few popular futuristic space combat games, among the likes of Star Citizen and EVE Online.
