Designed from scratch as a land combat MS, the Dom differs from its predecessor, the Zaku II, in its revised and much more resistent armor and its added maneuverability courtesy of extra vernier thrusters in its feet, which allow it to "hover" along the ground.
The design was later revised for use in space combat, and entered service as the MS-09R Rick Dom.
