Rice topped with curry. A popular dish in Japan.
The Imperial Japanese Navy adopted curry from the Royal Navy, who adopted it from India, and it became the origin of present Japanese-style curry rice. The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's tradition of eating curry rice every Friday lunch originated with the IJN.
Popular toppings for Japanese curry include potatoes, carrots, onions, beef, pork, tonkatsu or chicken katsu, shrimp tempura, sliced boiled eggs, and fukujinzuke.
