Adult male has royal blue upperparts, white belly, and black face, throat, and breast. (The immature male has blue wings and brown body, and the female is brown.)
Breeds in Japan and other areas of eastern Asia.
Very similar visually to the bluebird. Look for a black face and throat, and white belly.
