A simple pyrotechnic initiating device used to set off explosives and fireworks. For tagging purposes this should be used for the match/cord style fuses.

Given their visual similarity, they're sometimes referred to as a wick, like those those used in candles and oil lamps.

The term "fuse" is potentially ambiguous, for the electrical device to prevent overcurrent see electrical fuse.
