Her rigging consists of a miniature version of her bow and 12.7 cm single gun mount slung to her left shoulder, a hull-mounted canister to her back, and her real-life flight deck with an aircraft catapult. This is because after the lack of reconnaissance planes was identified as a contributing factor to defeat of the Imperial Japanese Navy at the Battle of Midway, the historical Hayasui had aviation facilities added to her for accompanying the carrier task force.
Her name means "quick absorption", but read literally it can be interpreted as "fast sucking", a source of many suggestive jokes.
