A series of racing simulation games developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, where the player takes control of a real life car. The series is famous for its accurate driving physics emulation, a large number of licensed vehicles, attention to vehicle detail, the ability to tune a car's performance, and realistic graphics.
It later inspired a 2023 live action movie titled Gran Turismo by Neill Blomkamp, which is loosely based on the real life of Jann Mardenborough, a British race car driver who started his racing career thank to the Gran Turismo games and training at the GT Academy.
