A recurring antagonist from Gegege no Kitarou, he first appeared in the "Great Youkai War" story in 1966.

Described as a floating shadow with a single eye, he is the most powerful of all Western monsters and can submit anyone to his will with his gaze.

He achieved internet popularity in the 2000's with the kono lolicon domome meme. For his non-canonical daughter, see Backbeako.

Not to be confused with the One Piece character nicknamed Blackbeard, Marshall D. Teach.
