A suave, mysterious man from an indeterminate region of France, the Spy is a puzzle wrapped in an enigma shrouded by riddles. An expert in infiltration and professional womanizer, the Spy can disguise himself as anyone and everyone, and often plays the role of the straightest man amongst the team. Although he acts professional and serious, in-game voice lines reveal his childish, comical side when he dominates enemies. Is known to have had an affair with the Scout's mother, and is all but stated to be his biological father, unbeknownst to the Scout. Often considered the natural enemy of the Engineer, and has a rivalry of sorts with the Sniper.
The weakest class in terms of stats, the Spy uses his "invis watch" to become invisible and sneak behind enemy lines. His disguise kit lets him disguise as any other class, with fanworks often depicting him disguising as even inanimate objects. Once behind his target, he uses his signature balisong or other knives to instantly kill them with a backstab. He also carries a revolver, and a device called a "sapper" that lets him disable buildings constructed by the Engineer. He has several alternative versions of each weapon, including the "Ambassador" revolver engraved with a pinup of the Scout's mother.
The Spy's default outfit includes a team-colored two-piece pinstripe suit with a necktie, black gloves and dress shoes, and balaclava. He is almost always seen smoking a cigarette, and while disguised, wears a paper mask with an image of whoever he's disguised as.
