Sagitta (the Arrow) is a small constellation located in the Northern celestial hemisphere. It is the third smallest constellation in the sky. The constellation symbolizes an arrow shot by Heracles to kill the eagle of Zeus that was sent to gnaw the liver of Prometheus. Its brightest star is Gamma Sagittae.

Sagitta is an easily recognizable constellation. It consists of four connected stars that form the regular letter Y, as opposed to Cancer, which forms the irregular letter. Since the constellation symbolizes an arrow meant to kill the eagle, it is located right next to the constellation of Aquila.

Not to be confused with Sagittarius (the Archer).
