Moomin is a multimedia franchise created by Finnish author Tove Jansson, originally started as a series of Swedish language books and comic strips, about the adventures of a family of white hippopotamus-esque creatures in the fantasy setting of Moominvalley.
The series has a notable presence in Japan, where it has spawned numerous anime series and other pieces of Japanese media; one of the most well known pieces of Moomin media is the 1990 anime series, known in Japan as Tanoshii Muumin Ikka (楽しいムーミン一家, Delightful Moomin Family) and in English simply as Moomin.
