    Because Kero-chan is very cute, right?
    This day was established in honor of Suwako's nickname, Kero(96)-chan (originally the name of a spell)'s sound! Kero is a mnemonic for 9 (ke) + 6 (ro) in the "Gorowase" numeric substitution system in Japanese. Although "ku + ro" is normally used for Sept. 6, the Pixiv Encyclopedia entry for Suwako Day (9/6) says that the sound is close enough to "ke", so "ke" is used instead here.
