Well, if in light of this you consider the capture process the pokemon checking out its new digs, weighing it's options, and deciding to go for it or hold out for something better, the masterball must simply be so mind-blowingly awesome that no pokemon can refuse it.
You know, I always wondered what was in these balls and how they worked. I thought they replicated the pokemon's natural environment, but this seems much better.
