Judging from this dialogue... Is Marisa a ghost? So maybe this is a tale where both Marisa and Reimu are dead, but their spirits roam Gensokyo kicking all sorts of ass?

there's something about this statement that doesn't make sense when i read it in my head...

I can't quite get the full context of it either, but I think the point is to emphasize that Marisa and whomever she's with are no longer living humans, but spirits. Or are at least possessed.

I think, Rin looked right through Marisa’s body to the spirits posessing her. She’s a youkai dealing with the dead after all.

There’s that famous example from bible (?) story.

I'm pretty sure Rin is hauling that guy's corpse away specifically so he won't end up like you, Legion. Otherwise she could just sit on her ass and let Utsuho provide the heat.

Not that I expect someone who essentially sees her as abandoning the child to die with the shame of contributing to his father's death to believe that.
