    8/15 is Sashimi Day
In the past, Kanto called it sashimi and Kansai called it o-tsukuri, but after the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, a Kansai chef rushed to the scene and started calling sashimi "o-tsukuri," and now the two terms are mixed together.
O-tsukuri is a word that originated in Kansai and is a more elegant way of saying sashimi. It was originally "tsukurimi", but the "mi" (mi) was omitted and "o" was added, resulting in the current form.
The garnish for sashimi (shredded daikon radish) absorbs the moisture that comes out of the sashimi and helps keep it fresh.
    Please don't eat it!!
