[STEAL]
Inspired by CaptainGerBear CaptainGerBear's recent delving into the realm of Final Fantasy VI fanart (first with this comic, then with this second piece) I thought I'd activate the wayback machine and dredge up a commission I got waaaay back in the day from the artist Dongsaeng.
This was first posted back in 2010, and was one of the first art pieces I can remember paying money for. Though it feels like I've been doing this for way longer! xD
FFVI has always been my favorite SNES game, and I've replayed it countless times. During one segment Locke the thief treasure hunter has to sneak out of the Empire-occupied town of South Figaro. It's a complicated affair filled with stealth, bribery, hidden passages, and... stripping various guards and merchants to their underwear with skillful use of the 'steal' command. After that part of the game I was a bit disappointed that Locke never used his vaunted nimble fingers in such a way again. After all, instantly de-equipping an enemy must have its uses, right? Or even... certain party members...?
Enter Sabin, my favorite character, and the one guy who never left my party. Even as a teen not yet ready to face my burgeoning sexuality I knew I had a thing for him. I also loved how effective his martial arts skills could be in a world of fused magic and technology, and how his inputs were entered like Street Fighter commands. But it appears his blitzes were of little use in protecting him from a surprise steal attempt right outside of Narshe, and it even takes the big guy a couple extra seconds to realize what the sudden draft all over his body must mean.
Locke better move quick if he wants to escape before Sabin gets revenge on him!
