Well he was put into it shortly after he arrived since his body was near death, it's never really specified when Hazama ditched it but one would assume it was sometime before Jin arrived if Rachel just had it laying around.

I say he used it for a very long time, enough to drove him mad to the point of outright hated the thing to ditch it. Theoretically, if he can attain a new vessel right away, he would still need considerable time to research and develop Blazblue and first Black Beast since all of those are completely new field no one think of before. Given how much of a task it would be, i think the time Susanoo has no user is quite long, probably few decades at least. Also you two has a mistake there, its not Hazama the one ditched Susanoo Sankishin, but Terumi. Hazama is just a victim, a vessel prepared for Terumi in this event
Wasn't Terumi always rather crazy? I don't think it had anything specifically to do with Susanoo itself. As for "Hazama"? he's not really a victim since it's implied that it's simply an artificial body that was created to hold Terumi's True Form.
Terumi was using the Susanooh unit in the very first "time loop". 2nd one and forward, it was Jin (and Terumi was using that green hair guy body, forgot his name but he's too similar to Hazama).
