Technically the latter two are correct, but I'd venture to argue that it's such a well-known phrase (since it's always transliterated rather than translated) that whichever spelling you use people will still understand it.
Somehow it feels that they aren't talking about Meiling.
Now this fits better with the following script.
They aren't talking about Meiling...It is Remilia they are talking about...
Well, I'm not saying I've seen one with my own eyes, but I heard that they come from the West.No doubt about that. That said, adults were looking down on her because she's a child.I heard that two hundred soldiers couldn't lift a finger against her.I see. Was that what was going on five nights ago..?Even I had to run away like I was being driven out....in any case, it'd probably be better not to go near that town for a while....Was it really that bad?Don't judge the book by its cover, huh? There's no way a monster like that exists... I still can't believe that story. And it's a fact that things are going nuts out there 'round Ima-machi way, what with everyone grabbing all the silver weapons they can and all these Taoists and "Devil Hunters" and the like descending on the place all at once.
今町 seems to be a fairly common town name.
