I am utterly blown away how much of a surprise hit Umamusume has been on Steam. At this moment in time, it has over 26,000 active players, which is more than Factorio, CK3, EU4, Expedition 33, and Stellar Blade, and is still steadily gaining new players. So many players who wouldn't touch a gacha with a ten-foot pole, including, as you can see, NorthernLion, are getting caught up in it.

I know this trend won't last forever, but damn.

There's a reason the game is rated overwhelmingly positive. Despite being a gacha game it doesn't have a lot of the shit you see in other gachas
Then again. Most gachas don't have a steam release

So is its gacha system better or worse than Limbus Company's? I feel like any gacha game with a Steam release probably has to have a really good pity system to keep people from refunding constantly and that's the game that everyone praises in said regard.

I don't play limbus company and I don't know the ins and outs of Umamusume's gacha system (I don't even know if there is a pity system, just that rolls get you points along with the roll itself and when you have enough you can just exchange them for the character/card), but I can tell you that there's a lot less relying on gacha in this game than in other ones.
You can take basically any Uma and make her a star. And you don't have to grind massively either since this game is more about strategy. Plus the game is very generous (especially now when they're giving a bunch of stuff to celebrate the steam release) so right at the beginning you'll net characters and support cards that you'll be able to use to advance your uma's career.

If you're on the fence about it just go try it. It's really good. Just make sure to roll a bit so you won't be stuck with your beginner characters and support cards and actually have variety to play around and strategise with.

Limbus company has almost everything in the game being eventually accessible without RNG.

Umamusume acquisition of both characters and support cards (equipment) is completely RNG but every single aspect of the gameplay is also completely RNG. Just think of it like Balatro with option to pay real currency to target specific items.
