The latter was worse than forced, there was not an ounce of chemistry between Shuji and the girls. Never mind that it was built on nothing, the three stuck together just due to their fixation on "kira kira".
Meanwhile Lalah got her happy ending 46 years after her debut and that's what we should be happy about.
