So you're saying we could have had a pretty great design, and instead got... Whatever that brainrot is? Zero support or cover for her cleavage and we can see her bare crotch. Amazing uniform design.

I mean, if it works for Nikke...monkey see, monkey do.

Yeah, I hate to break it to ya. But not everything that's popular is good. The idea of even looking at Nikke hasn't ever crossed my mind. The only good Nikke content are Ohisashiburi's pieces.
Welp if you don't like her don't get her right i get if you like cool shipgirl designs but at the end of the day you are simply a minority most ppl who play al like sexy over everything else

Firstly I'd say this is better than most of what I've seen out of all the Nikke designs, being a proper hourglass figure than all the more bottom heavy designs. Secondly it's pretty in line with the ship class style and the overall style of Azur Lane, it's always been pushing the line on what they can get away with. If you don't like cleavage what are you playing the game for?

Believe it or not some people who started back before 2020 may have been drawn in by the shipgirl, kancolle alternative, or "naval history" side back when the ww2 angle was more prominent. Idk make what you will

Those people either have already left the game and no longer care, or they remain a minority of whining morons who still can't get over sexy designs because their fetish for history aren't catered to anymore.
Coming from someone who is a Day 1 AL player, I can tell you that if the game remained as tame as it was in year 1, I personally would've lost interest considering that everything else in the game was and still is a subpar experience.

Eh some adapt better than others, I'd say all told I have adapted well despite any gripes I may still have
Really, artists designing a character for Azur Lane and the devs going, "No, make it much lewder." is nothing new. Kashino's Maid for Mayhem skin (Concept art: post #5673846, final design: post #5673844) is a less extreme example.
Also, seeing NIKKE and AL fans mock each others' designs is hilarious. A clear case of "my gooning is better than your gooning".

We are still here. Design C is the best one here. Having a "fetish for history" is much more respectable than whatever the hell is going on with this game now.
I've been a day1 player and while my daily play habit is still currently intact, I'm down from playing for like 3-6hrs a day about 6 months ago to about 1-2 today. And the only reason it's even that high is because im on a very old ipad and it keeps crashing, forcing me to re-login. I've slowly stopped caring about anything manjuu puts in the game, starting with being unable to even play W15 due to aforementioned crashing. Exacerbated by feeling like I'm not really the target audience any more. I can see myself simply stopping in the next few months and never playing it again. Which is sad, as I genuinely like a lot of my shipgirls, it's just that the new ones are completely uninteresting. Oh, and I haven't read any of the story since Musashi's event, once you realise that the story mostly looks like characters going "[current happening], [character quirk]" plus *random extraterrestrial bullshit* it gets old really fast. Most obvious example was how "Anson" was swapped out for Fu Shun so easily with that whole hullabaloo last year. What happened to Victorious calling out the Sirens for "mysteriously doing mysterious nonsense" (or whatever that quote was) only for the writers to lean even harder into the mysterious nonsense only a couple years later?
I don't want to rant anymore. I don't hate AL like I do certain other gachas I've played, I'm just extremely disappointed. When I do leave I'll leave quietly and without fanfare ("fanfare" as in "posting a whiny rant on reddit", I really hate that) as I don't want to bog myself down by thinking of the game anymore.
On the topic of Franklin: I don't really care. She wouldn't have been my focus for the event even if she had a less gooner design, but that's just because I love Fletchers (historically and in-game).
Definitely could have gone with D and been happy. Guess it is just Manjuu pushing the degen. I just find it funny that they used to call us all degenerates when they might be the biggest ones. XD
The downvotes on the comments rly show that the target audiance of the game shiften from ppl who actually care about design, to gooners who just want big boob fems. Go play Nikke lol...
I may need to slightly modify Robespierre's words: “Looking at this series of despicable 'day1 players', traitors who either cunningly or clumsily hide their vile souls beneath virtue, even beneath the 'history and disappointment' that they have deliberately beautified.” The term “day1 players” merely represents an individual's duration of engagement with this game and has no relation to whether they possess the simple wisdom to distinguish between a game meant for entertainment and serious history. The same goes for everyone else. If there are anyone who wants to find or force the makers to restore "history" in ACG games, I can only say that this group of people just uses history as a half-way tool to show off. Would you criticize the burger joint's "haute french cuisine" for not being authentic?
As a early player of both Azur Lane and Nikke, I'm feeling kind of called out by both sides on this foolishness.
I like sexy ladies and won't deny it. And the kawaii girls too. I won't pretend to be a history buff, I was never into AL for the history references. I was into AL because of Warspite's and Elizabeth's splash screen.
Heck, being completely honest, I actually dislike WWI and WWII references and am happy we diverged from a "historically acurate" retelling. Also because the game would have already ended by now, with rigid and predictable plot.

Theres nothing stopping you from having both entertainment *and* history. It's very possible to appeal to both camps manjuu just isn't trying anymore. I'm not against sexy ladies either, I'm against a game I have to be embarrased to tell people I play. All I want is some decorum. Senri Gan atleast seems to have taken his assignment seriously and drew a shipgirl, even if I disagree with the final result.

You are a rational and sensible person; I respect and appreciate you. However, it is unfortunate that I can only agree with half of what you said. It is indeed possible to enjoy both entertainment and history simultaneously, but that can also lead to issues. You are also aware of the significant damage caused by those crazed "half-baked historical show-offs." Therefore, I only support historical accuracy in ACG games as an added product. Some nonsensical traitors and conspirators hope to divert others to games with different names but similar nature—just as they might consider that avoiding relations with prostitutes while merely touching their bodies and listening to their yelps is a more "refined" and "courteous" behavior than the former. The metaphor was enough for them to puncture their fig leaf.
Moreover, you should not be overly concerned about others' opinions. Be a bit braver and more confident! Playing this game is not a sin, and admiring the bodies of cyber girls is nothing to be ashamed of.
As for the final outcome of this artist's work, to be honest, I am also not very satisfied. It does not captivate me well.
Overall, you are far superior to some of the loud-mouthed conspirators and dullards mentioned above. Please allow me to express my respect for you; it is well-deserved.
