Yes because not being afraid to write depressing stories makes him a douchebag. People need to suck it up, the man writes depressing and heart wrenching stories for a living, the fact that Madoka ended happily at all should be enough.
Not every story gets a "And they all lived Happily Ever After" Fairy Tale ending, expecting the story to end like that and being upset when it doesn't is stupid
YEAH! what he said! Seriously though, alot of despair is tied to this character, And you see her with Madoka at the theatre, she made compromise with her fate. And Komijou didn't forget her Damn, this show was amazing.

By that logic Shakespeare must have hated Romeo and Juliet. And Macbeth. And Julius Cesar.
Sayaka was written as a tragic character from the start. The moment she said "There's no way I will regret this" pretty much doomed her. The fact that she gets a peaceful sendoff at the end does show that Gen does have sympathy.

Right. Because being executed by her best friend is so much better than becoming a witch. Has this entire fandom gone completely insane? These girls -- all of them -- deserved nothing less than the classic Happily Ever After after all the crap they've been through. That they didn't get it just cements my hate for this series. Hopefully that slice-of-life spin-off the director's been talking about will turn out better than this.

Gen repeatedly used her as a plot device that made everything worse without giving a legitimate reason (her behavior towards Homura in TL3 was out of character and her transformation into a witch in that timeline was left without sufficient explanation, leading to further generalizations), made her misunderstand and overreact a lot and treated her like shit in general. Getting a special bittersweet ending just for herself was probably Gen just feeling guilty but still not stepping down. Can't say I hated how it turned out, though, Sayaka haters sure got told.
