it's well-known that the japanese can't have a meal without a side of rice :)

Rice is filler and (believe it or not) actually makes you get fuller faster, causing you to eat less. It does so because rice actually swells when it gets to your stomach because rice absorbs and holds water rather well. So because of the swelled rice, your stomach gets fuller, faster...

Look at all that authentic Japanese food.
