In the Revelations 2.2 release, EVE Online saw the addition of Industrial Capital Ships, of which the Rorqual was the first. At the start of 2.2's development, the design brief called for and freighter class ship that would be used for mining operations, and I started working on a design that would later become the Orca. Soon though, the design was changed to a mobile mining platform that would fly out to the mining location and then deploy. Ásgeir Jón Ásgeirsson (Art Director, EVE Online) then came up with the design for the Rorqual. 3D model, animation, and texturing for this ship fell to me.
