The armor version of a "sleeper" It appears mundane, until it's too late
The brigandine with some chainmail underneath it was almost on the same level as full platemail in terms of effectiveness but at a better price. Probably one of the most "don't knock it till you've tried it" cases when it comes to appearance vs actual usefulness.
