  • Grounded Student President

This is a story from one of the worlds with a Hakurei Shrine Academy…
Satori Komeiji is the president of the Earth Spirits Student Council, and she always keeps her cool. Although she can seem shy, she’s apparently full of self-confidence. Unfazed by even the most unexpected of occurrences, it’s no wonder people know her as the Grounded Student President.
In her hand, Satori held a novel she’d recently borrowed from the library. The book has clearly struck a chord with her as she’s been seen avidly reading it in the library and even in the corridors. It might also interest you to know that an Agatha Chris Q. release supposedly features in her top three novels list.

Kosuzu Motoori is a kind-hearted and serious girl who works as a librarian. Her love for books knows no bounds, carrying several with her at all times. Even at the academy, she’s known as a bookworm, and there are rumors that she’s read every book in the academy library and that she can read books in languages she’s unfamiliar with.
Kosuzu quickly noticed that Satori had started visiting the library more often, and it seems the two of them are now talking about the
coming-of-age novel Satori’s been reading lately.
As an aside, Kosuzu happens to know the identity of the up-and-coming mystery novel author, Agatha Chris Q., but she’s keeping that fact a secret.

Marisa Kirisame is a fearless girl who comes and goes as she pleases. She doesn’t hesitate to pursue whatever may interest her. She’s positive and energetic and seems to radiate a relaxed, friendly aura.
What’s taken her interest today is Satori and Kosuzu… or rather, the book the two of them are discussing.

    Parallel Prayers A Spring
    Chronicle
“With the academy’s choral festival set for the following day, the mix of excitement and nerves in the air was enough to make anyone’s heart flutter.”
“What an interesting phrase,” Satori thought to herself. Once again today, she was enjoying her novel and reading about the main characters’ eventful school days.
Originally, she’d picked the novel out at random from the library, but the unique depictions of its characters’ emotions would be irresistible to any young reader.
“Miss Satori! What part did you read up to today?”
As a result of her frequent library visits, Satori had made a new friend in Kosuzu, and she found talking to her about novels quite enjoyable.
“She reminds me of Koishi…” thought Satori. But just as she was picturing her carefree sister, she felt something hit her shoulder. She turned to see Marisa standing behind her, grinning widely.

“That’s the book everyone’s been talking about, right? Lemme see it.” Satori quickly deduced it wasn’t her and Kosuzu that Marisa was interested in so much as the novel.
While carefully watching Marisa’s expression, Satori turned her third eye toward her.
“Oh, I see…” she thought to herself.
“You’re going to ask to borrow the novel and then take it home, aren’t you?”
“Tch. Nothing gets past you, heh?
It’s a real good book, though, right?”
“Miss Marisa! If you want to borrow a book from the library, you have to write it down in the logbook. And while we’re on the subject, when exactly are you planning to return the last book you borrowed?”
    “Oops. Sometime soon for sure.”
Despite the disappointed look on Marisa’s face, Kosuzu continued to pile on the warnings.
It was a far cry from Satori’s usual quiet reading sessions, but it was somewhat comforting.
“Perhaps time spent with others really is worth cherishing,” she thought with a smile. “I still prefer peace and quiet, but even if there were more school days like this, it wouldn’t be so bad.”
