Translation conflict happens all the time on Danbooru. Japanese characters have many meanings that have to be derived from context. I'd assume that character means something like "a bad action" which can be taken as a crime or as a sin, depending on context...but since he's a "sinsack," I'd assume the latter is the most fitting. EDIT: Then glasnost and I try to delete it at the same moment and confuse the hell out of the server... :P
It's just not a distinction that the Japanese language makes, possibly because the religions of Japanese-speaking regions are not as focused on the idea of "sin" as the religions of English-speaking regions. Personally, I like the similar sibilants of "sin sack" (sssstrikingly similar sibilants, even), and it's already convention, so let's go with that.
