I can feel the comments will be nothing new compare to what we can see 14 years ago like some "stolen technology" "copycat" s**t.😅
China is both a leading nation in certain fields of technological development, such as material science, and also a leader in having a government run espionage program focused heavily on the theft of technological developments of other nations and their businesses to strip away their technological and economic edge. It's not surprising China would develop something like this, but how much is home developed and how much of it was built through technology theft we'll never know and as such will always cast a negative light on their developments because of it.
Not to mention that China is notorious for making big shows of their their supposed new technologies, but then they quickly break down, fizzle out, or spontaneously combust.

I think we can stop with the copying accusations now, that's an entire next generation fighter, even if only a prototype. They're clearly capable of using original ideas even if they had to build upon others, then again no one's advancement comes from thin air.

Yeah just like the billions dollars Americans spent on canceled procurement programs.
though only tangentially related, are we looking at a future where all stealth fighters might get obsoleted by advances in drone warfare? I doubt they'd go away completely.

Some are more notorious and blatant about copy, like mainland China. And it doesn't have to be the overall design, they can still riff design elements, like their pilfering of the diverterless intake design that was NOT their own. Or how about the general design of the JH-7 (enlarged SEPECAT Jaguar, anyone?), or the J-10 (frequent comparisons to the IAI Lavi are made). Might want to take a broader look at their industry before assuming an apologist stance.

At least they came to their senses most of the time when they realized when their ideas didn't work. I still have to wonder how many billions China is spending on just "bandages" for these propaganda projects to make it seem like they're working. Food for thought: China built licensed copies of Sukhoi's Flanker, yet they later had to order more of the original Russian made ones because their domestic copies were crap....does anyone think a supposedly "indigenous" design will really be any better? Someone said it best when they remarked that China's businesses operate on the motto: "Build is cheap, Build is fast, Build it to last just long enough to get paid". This includes to their own government.
