Where are yhe adults? There are no grown women except for Shun. And shes desperate to be considered a student, as if being acknowledged as an adult exiles you from kvytos.

I think adults are just conveniently left out of view so sensei is the only adult man on scene, as the self insert love interest of the girls, but most of the girls very much have parents, Nonomi mentions her rich family, Momoi alludes to their mom in the maid event, a few students are 18 lol

Not sure what some of them being 18 has to do with anything, but it's still very strange that students appear to have 100% autonomy, only a handful of them even mention having families, and they can go missing or even die and no one but the students themselves seem keen to do anything about it. Students literally run Kivotos, whether it's the GSC acting as an official government body or Cherino banishing students to rundown, abandoned schoolbuildings indefinitely.

Whatever series of events led to this particular state of affairs is without a doubt very strange. It's a world that's so familiar and yet whose societal organization is effectively alien, which is one of the core things that suckered me into this franchise. I suppose that's largely a side effect of having grown up on too much Star Trek and its opening monologue.

I feel that in the setting, adult has come to mean something simultaneously completely different from the way we use it, yet intrinsically tied to both how a child sees an adult and the dictionary definition of an adult. The way students speak of adults is usually completely normal but can range all the way to "It's as if they're discussing borderline lovecraftian entities". I think the most telling aspect is that (alongside all the bots and animals and Kaiser's upper Brass) Black Suit and the rest of Gematria tend to just be clocked as "adults" by the students. The students don't act as if they're too far out of the ordinary beyond having some obvious red flags.

Actually, thinking about it, the reaction to Beatrice's monster form isn't even that notable iirc.

IIRC, the team said that Sensei/an adult is a "complete being", which to me suggests that becoming an adult is akin to the Buddhist idea of Nirvana, and I guess that makes Sensei a bodhisattva. Given how youth and adolescence is a major theme in BA, I think the idea of adulthood here is meant to emulate a child's idea of an adult; some kind of fundamentally different/higher being that inhabits their own world.

Blue Archive tend to introduce a lot of plot entities and concepts that they tend to gloss over and put on hold in the shelves after they introduced and shown it to the player. Barring few examples like the Eden Treaty and the Abydos debt, they seems to didn't care that much about the worldbuilding in favor of just showing the girls having fun with each other with the story events.
It actually left a lot of stuff unanswered that people starts making theories speculations around the mythological concepts that the game often uses, like the guy above me said.
Shame, really. Judging by V1C3, they could at least have explored the worldbuilding more, how did they get the debt in the first place, and how the systemic economy works around Kivotos. Instead they kinda set that aside once Suou kidnapped Nonomi under Nepthys/Kaiser/Basemet Dweller's orders, and at that point V1C3 just becomes another Hoshino-centric storyline that put too much focus on her guilt and anxieties. Judging by the translations of the last part of C3, we already know how it turned out, and it raises even more question on how does it even run in the first place, while keeping Abydos back to the status quo AGAIN, much for the disappointment of many.
