Challenge of the Hero
A nice, refreshing illustration for the hour, w. Speaking of which, I realized that over the past two years I’ve started tons of Silver Castle drafts here and there… and almost none of them got finished (pain). Whether I’ll ever get around to completing them one by one just depends on fate, w.
Even though the Demon God Statue has never been in any of my decks, lol, it looks so cool that I’ve actually doodled it a lot in private anyway (joy).
By the way, in the Great Welcome card art the shading makes it look like the knight lady is wearing black leggings, but in the chibi card art they’re white, lol. I noticed halfway through and fixed it. At this point, the differences in how everyone interprets Silver’s designs could probably fill a whole 3×3 meme chart, lol. And since no official design sheet has been released, all the unrevealed parts are basically pure guesswork anyway (funny).
The title is a reference to Dragon Quest. Why DQ? Because I was listening to DQ BGM while drawing. It felt fitting—very much like encountering an enemy in the Demon Lord’s castle. And somewhere along the way the originally sword-raising pose turned into something more like a Melazoma! (Megazord/Fireball) kind of composition, lol.
The HD-2D DQ3 is coming out next month, I think. I’ve been waiting for it forever, lol. Even though after being fed Treasure Hunters, Dai, and Monster Chapter 3—three dumps in a row—I’ve basically lost all faith in SE, I still hope the release won’t be too embarrassing, lol.
Feels like the latter half turned into pure DQ talk. Well then, see you next time (jk).
