Satomachi here. This has been my 5th book of manga.
Reading the latest Touhou print work (Lotus Eaters) made me think. "Marisa's actually pretty considerate, huh?" Helping Miyoi with the cleaning, staying by her when she's unconscious. Thinking back on it, I felt like she'd always been pretty nice in other print works too.
My goal this time was to highlight that kind side of Marisa. Please read Lotus Eaters if you haven't already.Meanwhile, even though the official material tends to say Reimu "is cold" or "doesn't care about her surroundings", it feels her behavior in the print works really doesn't look that way.
You could simply say that Reimu has different sides like that, but I actually get the impression that she's matured over time. This book depicts her somewhere in the middle of that growth.
And of course, I always want to show Marisa being special to Reimu.
