Does it really hurt that much? I mean, all my fingers can naturally bend that way (with outside help) so this doesn't look that painful to me.

I had a friend who broke a finger the other way. He said it was unbearably painful and considering the fingers are not supposed to bend that way, I can only imagine the scream.

If you can bend your finger that far back then it probably means you're double jointed in that finger (it's fun to bend your fingers at the first joint so that the tips point perpendicular to the palm and watch people freak out), but if you're not, then yes, very painful
